The most visible addition is the new Desktop integration, where a simple TRIM Desktop program allows users to search and edit documents without having to explicitly check out the document and then check in; or be distracted by the many features of TRIM Context’s rich client interface.
This combination of simplicity for the user yet strict application of revision and version control make TRIM Context one of the most streamlined electronic document and records management systems on the market today. It fulfills the need for well-structured information management without significantly impacting on the way people work.
New functionality has been added to the TRIM Context Image Viewer. Users can now collaborate on scanned information by adding notes, highlighting text and adding comments directly to an image.
TOWER Software has created a complete Redaction (blacking out information) process in TRIM Context. This streamlines the operation of document check-out, redaction application, check-in, relationship building and application of records management rules all into a single, automated process. This functionality will be useful to any agency which has to comply with both Freedom of Information and Privacy considerations.
Several improvements have been implemented “under the hood” of TRIM Context. The use of stored procedures in the data tier greatly reduces the need for roundtrips between business logic and data storage and can dramatically speed up the retrieval of information in a WAN environment.
TRIM Context has improved authentication for users in a Novell environment against their user profile in eDirectory and the configuration of TRIM Context in these environments has been automated as a simple installation routine.
