The presentation will introduce the basic principle of a decentralized control plane. It will give an overview of the advanced resilience approaches enabled by ASON/GMPLS and show their advantages in terms of interworking between network layers and domains. An analysis of operational processes and economic considerations will serve to underscore the presented operational simplifications.
