A delegation of leading Egyptian companies in the field of communication information technology (CIT) is set to travel to Cambridge, United Kingdom for a two-day conference with British counterparts, with the intent of making business alliances to establish links between the two countries. The Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce together with the Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce has invited the Cambridge IT community to participate. More than twenty UK-based CIT companies were ultimately short listed to meet with 12 companies from Egypt, a key access point to the Middle East and Africa.
One-on-one meetings will be held between Egyptian delegates and their British counterparts January 24 and 25 2007, at Churchill College, Cambridge University. The Egyptian IT group consists of 12 Egypt-based affiliates operating in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa, representing over 3800 IT professional staff and £60 million (approx. LE667 million) in turnover. The Chairman of the Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce, as well as members of the Egyptian-British Chambers of Commerce will be attending the event.
Leading the Egyptian private-sector delegation is Dr. Mohamed Reda, Chief Executive Officer of Allied Soft. Dr Reda will present an overview of the IT industry in Egypt, including plans for national projects as well as top Egyptian IT success stories.
“These influential Egyptian IT companies began discussing our common goals and cooperating as a group, with our own collective initiative prompting this important visit,” stated Dr Reda. “This is an excellent opportunity for UK and Egyptian companies wishing to develop their business and establish partnerships within the two countries as well as third markets.”
The companies represent technology interests in the fields of communications, health, government, commerce, culture, and security, as well as the Internet-related topics of content and e-learning.
Egypt has witnessed a paradigm shift over the past decade in the field of information technology and has witnessed a period of substantial growth which has encouraged investment from the private sector. The IT industry in Egypt now employs more than 35,000 engineers and generates approximately £ 1.8 billion (LE 20 billion).

The Egyptian companies are Advanced Computer Technology, Allied Information Technology Services, Allied Soft, Arabize, Data Management Systems, ITWorx, Mega Media, Misr International Systems, Middle East Network Solutions, Softlock and Tea Computers.
