ARGELA announced today that it will test its Multimedia Sponsored Call (MSPC) application in an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) environment through its participation at the IMS Forum’s “IMS Plugfest II” during the first week of June. The IMS Forum is an industry-wide forum designed to foster the interoperability of IMS applications and services for wireless, wireline and cable broadband networks. The IMS Plugfest will be held June 4-8, 2007 at the University of New Hampshire’s Interoperability Lab (IOL).
“We welcome the participation of leading edge, innovative companies such as, ARGELA in our Plugfests,” said Michael Khalilian, IMS Forum President & Chairman and Pervasip Corp CTO. “ARGELA’sMultimedia Sponsored Call (MSPC) application introduces a new business model, enabling a completely free or partially subsidized voice calling service for wireless operator customers who agree to view a multimedia advertisement overIMS compatible networks. Callers are also offered interactive purchasing and viewing capabilities in parallel to their calls. Applications such as these will be instrumental in helping mobile operators realize true fixed-wireless convergence utilizing IMS frameworks.”
IMS Plugfest II is the second in a series of IMS Plugfest events that bring together service providers and IMS vendors committed to furthering the development of IMS certification. These Plugfests provide a unique opportunity to establish agreed upon requirements and criteria for IMS application and service interoperability. These testing events will enable the Forum to develop an industry-recognized “stamp of approval” for IMS applications and services, expediting their rollout.
“The Plugfest provides an ideal environment in which to prove that your products are IMS ready and the IMS Forum is rapidly proving itself as the premier body to verify and certify IMS services,” said Dr. Seyhan Civanlar, ARGELA Vice President of International Business Development. “At the IMS Forum Plugfest II ARGELA will be testing its newly unveiled Multimedia Sponsored Call (MSC) application, which leverages many components and protocols of IMS. This application will be demonstrated on the ARGELA SIP client, and will use a standards-compliant SIP Application Server (SIPAS) as well as several other components from ARGELA and other vendors. The focus of the test will be on the interoperable aspect of our solution.”
ARGELA’s Multimedia Sponsored Call application allows callers to watch short multimedia ads at no charge or partially subsidized as a part of a voice service over a multimedia capable SIP client, leveraging advertisement income. This enables mobile operators to fight against competition and falling ARPU, while offering a richer user experience by providing interactive purchasing and viewing capabilities in parallel to calling.
