Türk Telekom, the country’s dominant fixed-line operator, priced Turkey’s biggest initial public offering (IPO). The offer was priced at YTL 4.6 per 100 shares — against an indicative price of YTL 3.9 to YTL 4.7 — valuing the 15 percent of the company being sold at YTL 2.4 billion ($1.9 billion).
A tender for the 3G mobile communication system ended with the participation of Turkey’s three GSM operators, bringing a total of 822 million euros to the Treasury and 148 million euros to the Finance Ministry as value-added tax.
Russian firm Atomstroy-export with local partner Park Group was the sole bidder in the tender for the construction of Turkey’s first nuclear power plant in Mersin’s Akkuyu district. The amount the company bid is expected to be disclosed by early January 2009.
Çalık Holding subsidiary Turkuaz Radio, Television and Publishing Corp. was the only bidder in the tender to buy the ATV-Sabah media group, offering the minimum amount of $1.1 billion for the media conglomerate.
