26 August 2010 – DiscountVouchers.co.uk, the consumer codes website, this week launched a new guide of hints about how to start negotiating cheap deals when in shops buying new goods and services. The guide is issued in partnership with Pareto, one of the UK’s leading sales training companies.
The guide, which is entitled ‘Top 10 Tips – How to Bag a Bargain’, is available for download free of charge from the DiscountVouchers.co.uk website. It has been created by DiscountVouchers.co.uk in partnership with Pareto to teach shoppers tips for haggling when buying items.

* Do your research
Look around for the best deals on the web and elsewhere before you go to a shop, so that when you talk to a shop assistant you know your stuff should they try to force a higher price. Find out the recommended retail prices and look into alternative products and solutions. Also always check out alternative suppliers to be as well informed as you can.
* Negotiation isn’t just about price
Getting value for money does not just mean getting money off. When bargaining you should remember extra items can mean value too, not just money off. So you might end up with something you can use as a gift for someone.
* Don’t be pressured into accepting the deal
Shoppers are usually under pressure to make snap judgements and quick decisions about buying something, but it can be a mistake. Be aware of pressuring tactics and don’t let the salesperson make you pay a price which you are not comfortable with.
