5.What is your percentage in Turkey? Turkish people are known as techy geeks. They have a very positive look on using every kind of social networks (like they are number # in MSN users and etc).. Do you think, Turkish users are active enough and being a strong part in your whole network?
We can certainly say that the number of users and the awareness for Skype in Turkey is increasing everyday.
There is great potential for us to grow particularly in emerging markets such as Turkey, where high internet penetration, a young population, and higher than average telecommunications costs mean that Skype is both an accessible and an attractive proposition.
The number of internet users is high and there are lots of Turkish expatriates living abroad, far from their relatives in Turkey. Skype is an easy low-cost way for Turkish families and friends to maintain meaningful relationships even when they are miles apart.
6.Are your services taking share from present global traffic, or are you supposing that you are creating a new traffic volume? So what is percentage for this in your opinion?
Skype is not intended to be a replacement for your normal landline telephone. Skype is a software-based Internet communications solution that is complementary to traditional landline calling and is not a replacement for traditional telephone service. Skype offers an ‘enriched’ online communications experience with voice and video calling, SMS, Instant Messaging (chat), file transfer, conference calling, and a whole lot more.
7.How are your relations with global operators? I remember once they were pushing device producers to block your application, what are they doing right now? And how is the situation in Turkey (with Turkish operators I mean)?
For example, in many countries, several, if not all, mobile operators prohibit their customers from using Skype on their mobiles or they only allow Skype usage at extra cost. We don’t see Skype as a natural enemy of operators, but as a tool that can help them to acquire new customers, differentiate in a very competitive market environment and keep customers happy and loyal. Our partnership with Hutchison Three in the UK gives plenty of evidence for this and the relationships with Verizon Wireless and KDDI started off well.
8.Tax subject is being discussed in everywhere. For example a communication is beginning and terminating in Turkey, but you are paying this tax in USA. So what will this be in the future? What are your predictions?
Skype is a global Internet communications company headquartered in Luxembourg. We pay taxes accordingly.
9.Why isn’t your service integrated with eBay sales or other online services? What is your opinion, for this in the near future?
We are a company dedicated to using our software to enable the world’s conversations and allow everyone, everywhere have meaningful conversations with one another. Skype develops partnership that supports this vision. Our recent partnership with Facebook demonstrates our commitment to allowing people to connect with the people and communities they care about. We can not comment on future partnerships.
