The website www.royalweddingcharityfund.org created and set up by GGMR on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as a charitable gift fund for those wishing to donate to charity to help the couple celebrate their wedding, has been hailed as a great success with the total raised so far reaching almost £1m.
The site, designed and built by the British arm of global digital marketing agency GGMR, on behalf of the Royal Couple, has been accepting funds from nations and organisations not just in the UK, but from around the globe.
“This has been a very special project for us, we were honoured to be chosen by St James’s Palace to design and build this important global site, which will remain open until the end of May. The site continues to welcome large numbers of visitors from around the world, so our solution had to combine creative clarity with highly robust functionality. Fortunately this is an area we have worked in for the last decade so we have been happy to help,” said GGMR’s commercial director George Gill.
The Royal Couple are supporting charities and organisations benefitting the armed forces, the elderly, art, sport and the environment. New Zealand’s official Christchurch earthquake appeal will also be a beneficiary.
At the end of May the grand total of funds will be announced and the charities informed how much they will receive.
Donations are possible in five currencies and can be made either via the website, by telephone or by text message. Grants will be distributed in partnership with the benefitting charities to ensure maximum impact. There are no processing costs for the donations, the entirety of which will go to charity.
