SeaChange International (Nasdaq: SEAC), the leading provider of IPTV and Video-On-Demand (VOD) software, systems, and professional services, announced that it is partnering with Turkey-based Argela, a leading provider of next-generation telecom solutions to serve the growing global market for IPTV. Turk Telekom, one of Europe’s largest telecommunications companies, is the first customer of the partnership, for which SeaChange is also providing systems integration and professional services.
SeaChange and Argela’s combined product offering will enable telco network operators to offer telephony, messaging, Internet access, mobility services, VOD, and personal video recording services that integrate seamlessly with their service delivery platforms (SDP). The companies are partnered to bring these services to the rapidly growing market for IPTV, which SNL Kagan Research estimates will quadruple in reach to 45 million subscribers globally by 2012.
SeaChange brings the experience of software, systems integration and service deployments spanning some the world’s largest telcos including Verizon, NTT/OnDemandTV and Telus. Argela brings the experience of developing, deploying and maintaining new generation telecommunications solutions for telcos, which includes the Argela SDP, the main building block of the Argela multiplay IPTV middleware solution.
“We are excited to be working closely with Argela to deliver both services and products to Turk Telekom. Both companies are committed to expanding the types of services that enrich the overall video viewing experience and increase subscriber loyalty and revenues for operators worldwide,” said Simone Sassoli, SeaChange’s Vice President, Broadband Networks, EMEA.
Mr. Hakan Erdemli, Argela’s VP in charge of Sales & Marketing, said: “SeaChange and Argela are combining our deep know-how and experience for a best-of-breed IPTV solution. The joint solution will allow operators to offer IPTV service; hence increase revenues and customer loyalty through innovative and distinguished services. We are confident that our strong partnership with SeaChange will allow us to keep bringing value to our customers globally.”
Argela’s multiplay IPTV Middleware
Argela multiplay IPTV Middleware allows the operator to open up multimedia control capabilities to third parties while giving complete control of the third parties to the operator. This means that operators can also offer media streaming, video communication, interactive video games and high speed Internet access in a secure and reliable environment along with the basic IPTV functionality.
TISPAN’s IMS_based IPTV model offers a flexible convergence path for both fixed and mobile telecommunications applications. Because of the sophistication of the IMS architecture, all services will be delivered though a common QoS core network and will be controlled through a unified management and provisioning service.
SeaChange’s TV Navigator
Proven in some of the world’s most demanding deployments, TV Navigator is SeaChange’s next generation client platform for telco, cable and hybrid operators that accelerates the creation and delivery of revenue-generating applications. Example applications include time-shifted TV, games DVD on Demand, Caller ID and IMS/Converged applications. Applications are fully customizable and/or can be built from the ground up to reflect the individual identity of the network operator and the capabilities of the set-top box (STB)
