The highlights of the EnVoy feature set includes auto-enabling of newly connected customer premise equipment e.g. routers, modems, gateways, upload of new configurations in support of new services, diagnostics and scheduled software audits and upgrades. The features apply to any make of equipment that complies with the DSL Forum’s TR-069 report for remote CPE management.
The most obvious benefits of EnVoy to ISPs are the ability to reduce customer service calls and support costs on basic broadband services, and to enable the cost-effective deployment and support of more sophisticated home and small office equipment and applications such as voice and video.

The market in Europe is showing signs of the much-anticipated move from a simple broadband modem connection to the use of home gateways and non-PC ‘home hubs’ controlling voice, Internet and video services. ISPs could see more expensive support costs as users demand more feature rich devices. ISPs need to have management systems such as EnVoy to support this intelligent customer equipment.
