Growing 17.4 per cent in the 2002, the Information Technologies market has reached USD2.6bn, whilst the Communication Technologies market, growing 9.8 per cent, reached USD7.6bn.
Mobile software market will grow even larger in 2003
The study, carried out by Interpro AS, said that the mobile software market grew by 29.3 per cent in 2002. It is predicted this particular market will grow even faster in 2003, with value added service rendered by mobile telephone operators and software programs targeting mobile marketing increasing revenues.
Service market narrowed as call centre services enlarged
It was also found that call centre services have registered 107.9 per cent growth. Call centres services are crucial for campaign management, client services, data-base formation and customer satisfaction rating, and the market is expected to continue its growth in the year 2003. On the other hand, results determined that the mobile service market, narrowed by 5.6 per cent.
Internet access services not a major income source anymore
Incomes from online services, which used to have significant positions in the service market, reduced by 16.6 per cent. After company purchases took place between service providers, those service providers supported by a holding company have become the major actors in the market. The survey found that internet access services are not major sources of income anymore, whereas having “content providing” and “e-commerce” platforms in the market is getting more important day by day.
New technology is a major factor for increasing mobile telephone sales incomes
In the year 2002, the Mobile Telephone market showed a growth of 38.6 per cent. The increase in the value added service for users and new technological capabilities added to mobile phones, such as multimedia messaging, were the major factors in increasing sales income, the survey said.
The telecom hardware market was revealed to have reached USD1.1bn in 2002. According to the survey, the telecom network hardware market reduced by 48.8 per cent whereas the telecom end user market grew 42.7 per cent.
Cable phone service incomes vs mobile phone services incomes: nip and tuck
The income differences in the host services market reduced significantly, whilst overall growth was 18.1 per cent, yielding a revenue of USD6.4bn. In the year 2002, mobile phone incomes reached USD2.9bn as cable telephone incomes reached USD3bn.
Turkcell is the largest company in the mobile services market
Reaching 16.3m subscribers by the end of March, Turkcell has become the largest participant in the mobile service market, with the uptake of pre-paid card users up around 73 per cent. Increase in the services for mobile phone users, such as news, information and entertainment are expected to increase mobile telephone service income for the year 2003.
