24 March, 2010 – The Home Gateway Initiative – the world’s leading member-led organisation devoted to translating broadband service providers’ service plans into published technology requirements – will next month highlight some of the critical development factors needed in order to deliver next generation broadband.
Addressing visitors at the China Next Generation Broadband Summit in Beijing next month (April 15-16), HGI’s CTO Duncan Bees will highlight the work being done by its members for achieving the high performance requirements of the industry, while at the same time ensuring minimal power usage. He will also reveal work being carried out in such areas as NGN networks, software execution environments, small business gateways, the integration of consumer electronic devices and the enablement of flexible service deployment.
HGI, founded in 2004, has an increasingly influential membership of vendors and operators from around the world, who work together to define requirements for home enablers. Asian members already include Huawei, Mitsubishi, NEC, NTT, Samsung, Telekom Malaysia and ZTE.
“As broadband continues to establish itself as a ‘must have’ for many homes and also small businesses, the Home Gateway remains the vital home device in the chain – the very heartbeat of enriching the lives of millions of users across the planet,” said Mr Bees.
“Nowhere is the passion and commitment for broadband services stronger than across Asia and I’m delighted to have been given the chance to address the delegates at next month’s event in Beijing.”
Mr Bees’ presentation comes less than two months before HGI holds its quarterly meeting in the region – at the Taipei International Convention Centre in Taipei (June 14-18).
