22 March 2012: twiDAQ is a new real-time stock exchange game linked to celebrities, companies and brands’ Twitter accounts launching today.
twiDAQ enables people to trade for free in shares based on Twitter accounts’ positive or negative influence, and people’s forecasting of whether an account will gain more or less share of voice on Twitter.
For example, as the Olympics approach, twiDAQ has a “Team GB” index including all British athletes who’s stock will rise and fall as they gain more or less influence on Twitter and more widely in the media. Trading patterns from the five twiDAQ markets around the world impact on the athlete’s market value. Top investors gain kudos with their peers and a prize fund is planned for the future linked to twiDAQ dividends.
Jim Morrison, founder of twiDAQ said: “The twiDAQ game is a fun way for people to trade in Twitter accounts’ share of voice and predict what will happen based on real-time mentions of celebrities, companies or brands.”
twiDAQ allowed around 2,500 people to play the exchange during its development phase with an explosion of over 800 people requesting accounts per day.

twiDAQ provides real-time analysis of Twitter sentiment for brands and companies. Many social media monitoring and evaluation tools are based on week old data. twiDAQ analyses metrics from Twitter and the markets in real-time and therefore provides a valuable barometer of sentiment in the present moment, as well as providing a forecast of how people think a company or brand will perform in the future.
For example, if Google makes a new product announcement, the positive or negative mentions on Twitter will affect its twiDAQ share price in real-time, and the company can see instantly how well the product is being received or how well people think it will be received.
