Singapore, 5 August 2015 – While LTE subscriptions in developed Asia continues to increase, this year’s LTE Asia provides a platform for discussions on the key technical and strategic challenges facing operators from the emerging countries. With speakers from the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia leading the discussions, the conference will address how operators can maximize their ROI from existing 3G networks, while stimulating LTE adoption and migrating customers from 3G.
Recent reports show that the Asia Pacific has increased its share of global LTE subscriptions to 49%, compared to 38% a year ago. China alone had 162 million LTE subscriptions by March this year, gaining 64 million during the first quarter alone. With another one billion LTE users expected to be added in the next five years, the opportunity is tremendous for mature and emerging markets.
LTE Asia, which is co-located with the 5G World Asia Pacific, Network Virtualization & SDN Asia, and Telco Big Data Summit, will include an Emerging Markets Focus track which will enable delegates to learn from operators that are deploying LTE and to examine the challenges and opportunities the developing LTE markets in the Asia-Pacific present.
The case study-driven agenda includes a key note from Phill Sporton, President Director (CEO), Telstra/Telkom Indonesia, who will share his thoughts on building a business in emerging markets while providing learnings from a case study which focuses on how to take advantage of the outstanding growth opportunities emerging markets provide.
Tvt Chari, CFO, Celcom, Malaysia, will also join the speaker line-up to share his experience of pricing and value bundling in emerging markets. This will cover how to develop pricing packages to encourage new subscribers and innovative packages for different subscriber groups. Chari will also provide insight into analysing successful package bundling from more advanced markets.
Focussing on LTE and fixed line convergence within the Philippines, Ashish Pilani, Senior Technical Advisor, Wireless Engineering & Implementation, Globe Telecom, will show visitors how to overcome geographical challenges to deliver the best subscriber service. Pilani will examine new business models for LTE, and spectrum challenges including TD & FD convergence.
