London’s first business hub dedicated to assisting migrant entrepreneurs has opened and is welcoming tenants to its newly built co-working space. The serviced office, found in Aldgate East, Whitechapel and run by Rafael dos Santos, helps tackle problems facing migrant entrepreneurs.
Situated in Batty Street near Aldgate East Underground Station, mi-HUB is the first co-working space which supports migrant entrepreneurs in starting, growing and managing a business. The hub provides the necessary tools and training to successfully run a business or enterprise.
The office space hosts 150 entrepreneurs and boasts excellent facilities such as a modern kitchen, shower room, break out area and a large balcony. The fully furnished building also benefits from a large event room and multiple meeting rooms for group activities, with private offices and boardrooms.
In addition to the modern working environment in central London, mi-HUB offers a Migrant Business Accelerator programme. The business training course takes place over six months with 16 different workshops and works closely with entrepreneurs to build their networks.
The accelerator programme teaches people how to run a new business and introduces those taking part to Rafael dos Santos, one of London’s leading entrepreneurs. As an added incentive mi-HUB offers a £1,000 reward to one of the 30 entrepreneurs taking part in the programme.
Rafael dos Santos said, “Recent research in Stratford, London showed that the three key issues migrants face when starting or running a business is a lack of network, lack of knowledge and lack of funding.
“mi-HUB has been created to help address these issues and to help migrant entrepreneurs thrive in the modern working world. I moved to London aged 21 and had to work hard from day one to achieve my dream. It’s incredibly rewarding that I am now in a position to help other migrant entrepreneurs from around the world.
“My vision is to help one million migrant entrepreneurs in the next ten years. We have just welcomed the first member to the mi-HUB family and we look forward to welcoming many more.”
In three months’ time Rafael dos Santos will be a keynote speaker at the Great British Business Show alongside Dragon’s Den stars Hilary Devey CBE and affordable fashion retail king Touker Suleyman.
