Last week NetApp, one of the leading data storage solution companies, has organized an event in Istanbul in order to share it’s growth numbers and future goals with its partners.
As Turk Internet, we managed to interview with Nick Thurow, the Vice President of NetApp EMEA Sales Department and Juan de Zulueta, Vice President of NetApp EMEA Channel Department. You can read our interview below.
Turk Internet: Could you tell us what are the top priorities for NetApp and the IT investments in 2010?
Juan de Zulueta: I think in 2010 a lot of customer will have to change completely the nature of the infrastructure. They are under pressure to internally reduce cost. At the same time we will see upcoming growth of the popularity of cloud computing.
So they will be forced to improve the overall agility of the IT in order to imporve the service level agreement, and at the be able to same time to reduce the cost. So that’s a quite diffcult situation that many customer will be facing. And as NetApp we believe that we can be instrumental in helping them to make some of those changes.
Nick Thurlow: I think we are looking forward. Our primary ambition is to help customers really obtain the benefits from the storage efficieny. Driving cost as the storage infrastructure and the management of storage infrastructure is something that we can really help with. Many times in conjuction with our virtualization part as well.
But we are looking forward to helping customers design infrastructure that could be shared , and provide a basis for internal cloud-type architecture. And again to drive the flexibility of cost from the overall budgets.
Turk Internet: Well, cloud computing and virtualization are really buzz words today. What is the view of NetApp on these new trends?
Juan de Zulueta: In Munchen there are many data centers in order to reduce cost and kind of leverage the virtualization of servers. Cloud computing is helping customers faster provisioning the new applications and new services.
If they are building shared storaging “fast touches” in theri data centers, that’a a way of reducing overall costs. And by implementin NetApp solution into those environments we believe that we can resolve the equation of reducing cost and improving agility.
Nick Thurlow: I think we are very clear of the benefits of the cloud. Technology is enabling cloud deployments but it is the economics driving the cloud.
And the way in which we are designing and deploying architecture allows customers to build highly efficent, highly flexible shared infrastructure that could provide the basis for internal and may be rather hosted cloud deployments.
Turk Internet: And what is NetApp’s vision for Turkish market?
Juan de Zulueta: In Turkey we are commited to develop our business 100% by partnerships. As NetApp, in order to grow faster in the industry and get into next 2-3 years and Turkish performance to see average market share in Europe we are going to focus on to our main channel pillars such as Fujitsu, suuch as distribution and such as IBM.
Nick Thurlow: The Turkish market is an exiting and viper market. I think that compliments NetApp as a company. Because it is a really exiting and viper company. We think that we can offer very fresh and new alternatives to established storage vendors in Turkey.
