Property and Direct Investment Committee Chairman of Kirgizistan’s National Telecoms Operator, Ravshan Zheenbekov told
“Bid was open to communications companies with annual revenues of at least $100 million. So, 13 telecom companies several countries like Sweden, Germany, Russia, Turkey and Kazakhstan joined to the bid. Now 6 is contending for % 51 stake of Kirgizistan Telecom. At the first row, Swedtel is placing with the offering of $15.6 million, at second place Russia with $15.287 million and third place Turk Telecom of Turkey with $12.3 million are placing”
Bidders are also have to make investment, especially in rural area. So, results of the tender will be announced in a few weeks, after tender commission finishes studying the investment proposals. Details of proposals are not given at that moment.
Kirgizistan government owns 77.84% of Kirgiztelecom, Kyrgyzstan’s social fund owns 12.51% and legal entities and private shareholders own 9.65%.
