London, November 5th 2012: Ebuzzing, the leading global platform for social video advertising, have analysed over 925,000 tweets, 159,000 forum posts, 75,000 articles and 6,600 blog posts through their social monitoring tool, Ebuzzing Labs. Ebuzzing calculate the media value of this activity to over £10 million. Twitter has seen the most activity with over 416,000 authors tweeting about the elections since July, an equivalent of £9 million.
Across all social platforms, Barack Obama is leading the buzz race with a 57% share of voice over his rival, Mitt Romney. This is partly due to the Democrat’s aggressive use of social media; @BarackObama has the most election followers, over 21 million, 31 million Facebook likes, and has been featured in 18,742 posts. In comparison, @MitRomney has 1.68 million followers and 12 million Facebook likes.
Across Twitter, Blogs, Forums and Media Articles the number of publications has risen dramatically in line with the three presidential debates on the 3rd, 16th and 22nd of October. The total number of publications peaked on the 22nd of October with 24,790 mentions of which 21,791 were published from Twitter. The first and third debate received more attention, possibly because Romney and Obama each won by a convincing margin, while the Democrat only narrowly won the second.
Blogs from a wide range of categories, from lifestyle and culture, to law, economy and technology, have been talking about the US elections with the most active blog in the UK having published 376 articles. Reuters, The Telegraph and The Guardian have been the most active media channels within Europe, publishing 1,011 articles between them.
With the countdown now officially entering the last hours until the presidency race is decided, Ebuzzing predicts Obama’s strong hold within social media and his majority stake in online buzz around the elections will aid the incumbent president to reign once more.
