Türk Telekom had called tender for the Sub-marine Fiber Optic Cable System, aiming provision of a wide scoped access from the Mediterranean through the Europe and USA, wherein 6 companies made offers. All of these 6 companies, making offer for the international fiber optic cable tender, have been qualified to be sufficient. Companies qualified to be sufficient are:

2. Tyco Telecommunications
3. Alcatel Submarine Systems
4. NEC Corporation
5. Pirelli Submarine Telecom Systems
6. NSW Consortium …
The system to be built in scope of the project requires the construction of a sub-marine f/o cable system between a terminal station in Turkey and a terminal station in Italy, France or Spain. Total traffic carriage capacity of the system to be built is 1,28Tbit/s. This capacity will be enhanced phase by phase beginning from 20Gbit/s.
The system will have the features of power feeding by the latest cable types, computerized control and high-capacity of DWDM accoutrement.
It is announced that, following the technical offers, an examination was made upon these offers, final technical qualifications were formed and the firms were asked to offer their price bids. Price bids from firms will be accepted on Thursday the 10th of July.
ADSL TENDER OF 200 THOUSAND PORTS
Following the prior ADSL tender of 60 thousand ports, finished by Türk Telekom, ADSL tender of 200 thousand ports approaches to be concluded. It is reported that pre-satisfactoriness of companies is being checked, which shall end next week, whereas some testings shall be conducted after detecting the satisfactorinesses of companies and then bids will be received.
