Experts in international removals, Interdean, have commented on the news that Australian expatriates are among the most highly-paid in the world.
According to an inaugural international survey of expatriates, Australian expats were recently voted the third wealthiest in the world. Around 39 per cent of Australians surveyed said they earned around £100,000 or more a year. Those expatriates working in Hong Kong had the highest salaries.
The survey also found that Australian expatriates were younger than average with more than half of them aged under 34 and a further 44 per cent under 54. These expatriates worked mainly in the financial sectors of Australia, followed by professional services.
The highest paying jobs in Australia were in finance and management, with 43 per cent of people working in these industries earning a six-figure salary. At least 31 per cent of expatriates earned more than £100,000 a year, with 2 per cent earning more than five times that amount. More than half of the respondents earned more than £60,000.
The survey revealed how profitable a move to Australia could be for potential expatriates. Australia is seeking labour in many of its respective industries to drive progression and economic stability. The country eagerly promotes international relocation for skilled individuals to join the Australian workforce.
As leading providers of international relocation services, Interdean takes a keen interest in expatriate focused news. A spokesperson from the company said: ‘Australia’s excellent results in the survey are a clear indicator of the country’s expatriate opportunities.
‘As a destination, Australia can offer expatriates high-paid employment and first-rate career opportunities. However, the country also offers potential expatriates much more. As the largest country in the Southern Hemisphere, Australia is home to an endless choice of beautiful and friendly destinations. With a warm climate, stunning landscapes and some of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, expatriates can integrate themselves seamlessly into this English-speaking nation.
‘Expatriates seeking to kick-start a profitable career whilst enjoying some of the best weather, sights and cities the world has to offer, will certainly do well in Australia.’
