PRINCE2® training providers, ILX, have commented on the ever increasing demands of the project manager, following a recent industry study.
A Missouri based firm conducted a survey of 64 project managers from January to March 2014 in conjunction with SurveyMonkey®. More than 80% of participating respondents held over 5 years’ experience as a project manager whilst 32% had at least 15 years. The findings revealed that around 90% of project managers reported being asked to do more in less time. Whilst 93% said they felt adequately trained to conduct their role as a project manager, 61% agreed that project management processes can be overwhelming. The overall feeling was that project managers struggle to find the right mix of project management processes to support increasing demands.
RefineM CEO explains that “challenges go deeper than time and budget constraints. Projects have become more global, diverse and complex.”
ILX Group is best known for providing PRINCE2 training courses for both organisations and individuals, teaching valuable skills needed to approach any project. Having been at the forefront of the industry for more than 25 years the team have a firm understanding of how demands have changed. A representative from the firm shares their thoughts on the subject.
“The fundamental role of the project manager remains the same; to deliver projects which meet time, budget and quality specifications. However it is the factors that affect how they do their job which are changing. With time and resources stretched, project managers need to step out of their comfort zone and find creative ways to approach the task in hand. This is something PRINCE2 can teach.”
