If you answered yes to all of the above then this might be the job for you. A mobile phone comparison site is seeking a new candidate to ‘test the latest mobile phones to destruction’ all in the name of helping customers make better buying decisions.
Brandon Ackroyd, Head of Customer Insight at TigerMobiles.com, said: “This probably the most unusual role we have ever recruited for but it’s also one of the most important. It’s imperative that our customers get the low down on the latest smartphones and how they stack up in real world scenarios.”
“Whoever is handed this new role will essentially be paid to test out the smartphones to the extreme – nights out, hikes in the country, drop tests in the bath, nothing is off limits. With an attractive pro rata salary and the ability to work from anywhere in the UK this role is ideal for anyone after part time work or students looking to help pay their fees.”
The job description states that the successful applicant will also receive an all-expenses paid night out and a free ‘cheeky nandos’ for every smartphone they test.
As well as general day to day use the tester will also be encouraged to take things to the extreme such as drop tests and water damage in order to research some ‘worst case’ scenarios.
The job requirements reveal the company wants their new team member to take the latest smart phones and put them through their paces in everyday situations; thrown across a nightclub dancefloor, dropped in a vindaloo at 3am or letting a sticky toddler get hold of it.
It’s not all fun and games though; whoever lands the role will have to provide a full written review of their experiences with the device and provide relevant pictures for publication on the Tiger Mobiles blog.
The workload is expected to be between 6 and 10 phones per year, with very flexible working hours, the ability to work from anywhere in the UK and a pro rata salary of an impressive £36,500 per annum.
The smartphones for testing are provided free of charge for the review and a company smartphone to take pictures of the review handset is also provided.
Ackroyd added: “We don’t care whether our destruction tester returns the phone to us in bits or as good as new as long as it has been tested to the extreme. We want to hear from people with a passion for mobile phones and if you have a history of breaking or dropping them that’s even better!”
